Human rights are a set of inalienable rights in every religion as well as civilization. In the past, however, human rights were not a part of the discussion. People used to live like animals. Human beings were not protected by law. There was neither any concept of municipal law nor international law to protect rights of human beings. But, Islam gave the concept of human rights without gender discrimination. Basic human rights include right to life, right to freedom of speech, right to fair trial, right to own property, right to education, right to marriage and family, right to play, right to copyright, right to have responsibility of protection of rights of others, right to public assembly, right to democracy, right to work of your own choice and that no one can take away your work. These rights are universal; the UN has declared these rights to everyone. Internationally; Human rights day is celebrated every year on December 10. From 25 November to 10 December world celebrate these 16 days as Days of Activism to Eliminate Gender-Based Violence and to galvanize actions to eliminate violence against women in the world.
Human rights are a set of fundamental rights to which every human being is vehemently entitled. These rights are ensured by law. But, the natural rights of being a human are violated by people as well as states. The United Nations committee and many other non-government organizations have been established to ensure the protection of these rights. In the past, however; the strong used to rule the weak and weak was destined to live a life of misery. There was neither any concept of women rights nor any concept of labor rights. Islam gave equal rights to human beings irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, and culture. It gave honor and dignity to everyone irrespective of their gender and profession. Islam ensured social justice and equal opportunities of progress.
Several organizations and NGO’s are active for the preservation of human rights. Nevertheless, human rights violation never stopped. Genocide in Rohingya, ethnicity in Bosnia, ethnicity in Myanmar, pre-emptive attack on Iraq; thousands of innocent Muslims of Palestine have been forced to live a life of refugees; from more than half a century, people of Kashmir are fighting for freedom against Indian reign of terror. Human rights violation in the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Libya witness that Muslims are oppressed and persecuted worldwide.
Everyone is righteous to enjoy equal human rights. Although basic rights of being a human are protected by law and the international community is active about it; still, human rights are violated, abused and denied by various factors and by states even. History has incidents when watch dogs of rights of civilians violated human rights. For instance, according to human rights charter of United Nations salivary is abused but still today many illegal slave trades have been reported. Although it is unbelievable that still today women are not enjoying equal rights world over. It is the 21st century; many women empowerment and gender equality campaigns are active to get equal rights. Still, women are the victim of rape, harassment, child marriage, unequal salary, marriage to the holy book, watta satta and many others. Nonetheless, education is basic civil right but in various parts of the world, females are not enjoying this right even. Many girls even do not enroll in schools. Enrolment ratio of girls decreases in secondary school. Enroll ratio at the university level is even low. Unfortunately, many females don’t join the work force even after university education.
Men and women are born equal
but they don’t enjoy equal rights. No mother gives birth to a slave but society
makes it slave. No one is born as racist, homophobic or inferior. It is right
of everyone to enjoy a torture free life. Despite gender discrimination and slavery, states are
also violating rights of human beings. For instance: Kashmir is
forcefully occupied by India, the majority people of Kashmir are Muslims.
Daily, in Kashmir many girls are raped, youth is brutally tortured even
physically, education is uncommon. But international community is silent about
it. In Syria, human rights are
violated at a larger level. Muslims of Palestine are spending a life of abuse,
violence and refugees. The ethnicity in Myanmar brutally violated humanity.
Human rights should be emphasized. Human
rights should be universally available to everyone. State and non-state actors
should be seriously active about it. As there is no central government across
the world but still human rights protection should be secured. Everyone wants
peace but not everyone care about it. It should be a part of education to teach
how to respect and recognize rights of others. International policy framework
must be monitored and revised. The still
continuation of violation of human rights witness incompetence of policy makers
and law enforcement agencies. Instutionalization has to be monitored.
UN has diligently worked to emphasize human rights. In 1948, International law
was enlightened with ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights’. Its basic purpose
is protection of human rights.
Human rights protection must be done at advance level. Internationally, refuge homes or safe heavens should be established to safeguard human beings in issues of war or ethnic crimes. Funding on armaments should be stopped or lessened and such funding to protect natural rights human beings should be strengthened. In every state, to ensure rights of civilians protection; security forces must be trained and employed. In jails even human rights should be secured. Education may prove a best way to eliminate human right violation. Youngsters must be trained to solve disputes by negotiation and other peaceful ways. The teachings of apologies and forgiveness must be flourished. Minority rights must be ensured as religious liberty is basic right of human being. Law should be strict for those who violate human rights both at national and international level. Public awareness should be done at larger level to promote people to fight for their basic rights. Every victim should fight for right. Those who do not have any power to fight with criminals must be secured and helped. Crimes in societies and reasons of crimes must be critically analyzed and committees should be established to fight with them. Criminals must be punished to prevent recurrence of crime. Humanitarian aid must be provided to reduce casulaities.
